Exactly one year ago, I made a significant decision: to return to AWS (Amazon Web Services). The year has flown by, and this return to a place I once left has given me a unique perspective—on the organization and on myself.
As part of introducing myself in meetings, I always mention how long I’ve been with the company. Every time I do, it takes me back to my journey and reminds me just how unique my story is. Returning to an organization you’ve already been a part of brings countless insights—about the changes the company has undergone, how I’ve evolved personally, and the challenges involved in making such a return.
One of the most striking lessons from this past year connects to a core Amazon principle: Deliver Results.
Looking back at the beginning of my journey with Amazon, I remember the sense of awe and respect I felt for such a powerful brand. The name “Amazon” and its high standards instilled a deep sense of responsibility and pushed me to invest heavily in preparation—perhaps even too much. I was so focused on being perfectly ready that, at times, the final result wasn’t exactly where I wanted it to be.
I spent considerable time and effort on meticulous planning, but over time, I realized that true success isn’t just about preparation; it’s about delivering on the goal.
Returning to AWS taught me to see things differently: while preparation and process are crucial, the ultimate aim is to deliver results.

Today, I am far more goal-oriented. It starts with setting clear objectives, continues with thoughtful planning, but always prioritizes achieving the desired outcome. No matter how challenging the circumstances or how many changes arise along the way, the focus remains on delivering results. Or, as Amazon puts it:
“Leaders focus on the key inputs for their business and deliver them with the right quality and in a timely fashion. Despite setbacks, they rise to the occasion and never settle.”
Additionally, this experience has strengthened my sense of self-efficacy—my belief in my ability to take on challenges, influence my environment, and stay motivated in the pursuit of my goals.
In the complex reality we’re all living through—amid war, hostages, and an almost impossible daily routine—I’ve come to appreciate how essential it is to maintain perspective, build personal resilience, enjoy the journey, and stay true to my mantra:
Dream big and live a life you will remember.
